THE LOST PRINCE
The Los
t Prince is a miniseries based on the true story of Prince John. John Charles Francis was born on 12 July 1905. He is the youngest son of King George V and Queen Mary. His older brother is George (later King George VI) and the eldest is Edward (later King Edward VIII). His grandparents are King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra. As a child he is surrounded by the extravagant court of Edward VII and Queen Alexandra at the height of British Imperial power. He is wearing the sailor suit which was practically a uniform among royal children of his generation. His favorite game was playing soldiers, with a wooden sword and a paper hat on his head. He usually plays with his brother who really loves him, George, and his kind-hearted grandpa, King Edward. Edward likes teaching a battle strategy to his grandchildren using soldier miniatures.

During the funeral attended by all the heads of state of Europe, including the sinister Kaiser Wilhelm, Johnnie get a serious epileptic fit. Queen Mary, Johnnie's mother, asks doctors to examine her son and their diagnosis confirms her worst fears. Johnny is not blessed with good health, being blighted not only by epilepsy - he had his first epileptic seizure at age four - but also an autism-like development disorder. John's parents therefore faced the danger that their youngest son might have an epileptic fit in public where dozens, maybe thousands of people could see his plight. That is such an embarrassment for the family. As a result, Johnny is unable to participate in public life and becomes increasingly isolated from his family. A notable example was father's coronation on 22 June 1911, which he did not attend.
Sadly at the age of twelve John was sent to live on farm house in Sandringham, one of the countryside estates far from public view. Johnnie is looked after by his lovely nanny, Charlotte Bill, known in the family as "Lalla", who dedicate her life to the little boy. His sibling, Prince George, who has always treasured Johnnie, swears to protect him. He is determined to maintain contact with Lalla and his brother. John was growing too quickly. By the time he was 12, he could be fairly described as a 'monster boy'.
John died unexpectedly in the early hours of January 18th 1919. Lalla phoned Buckingham Palace at 5.30 am, telling the Queen that John had had a severe fit and could not be woken up. King George and Queen Mary were immediately driven down to Wood Farm and found Lalla "heartbroken but resigned", with John lying as if asleep on his bed.
Later on in her own diary, The Queen wrote: “little Johnnie looked very peaceful.” John was buried on 21 January in the graveyard at Sandringham Church, in what his mother described as a very private ceremony. He was thirteen years old.
